"World Spins Madly On"

I hate when I do something I don't want to do but I think my kids want it and then they pout the whole time. What am I talking about? Donuts. Last night out of the blue Davis starts saying he wants donuts so I tell him that we can get some in the morning even though I don't really want my anyone in my family to eat them since they're entirely devoid of nutrition (I'm crunchy I know, people tell me all the time). Well, Davis cried all morning but straightened up just in time to "earn" his donut but then once they ate their donuts Leah cried because she wanted two! And then once they got home they were both cranky and arguing incessantly. I sat down at the computer in hopes of distracting myself and good thing stepheniemeyer.com did not disappoint! Entertainment Weekly posted a snippet of the first chapter of Breaking Dawn, it's excruciatingly short but after the morning I've had I'll take it :)

One cute thing this morning: In hopes of changing their moods I helped the kids build a fort in the living room (okay it's really a few kitchen chairs with a blanket draped over them) and after it was built Leah said, "Now we have to decorate it". That moment of girlishness made me smile :)

"Racing through the void in my head..."

Poor Grayson had a rough holiday weekend. He started getting his molars Saturday and was not too happy about it that whole day. And then Sunday after church is when the "spitting up" started. He's a lot like me in the sense that once he's thrown up his stomach gets so sensitive that any little thing triggers more vomiting so anytime he ate or drank too fast a little would come back up. On top of all this he got a fever last night too. My poor little baby was up 4 or 5 times last night :( He seems to feel soooo much better this morning though, and his fever is practically gone. Here's a picture of us this morning all sleepy-eyed and what not:
And you can kinda see the bruise he has on his right cheek. He got that on Friday when he was crawling on our bed and his hand slipped between the mattress and the footboard. Like I said, my poor baby :(

* 5 cool points to anyone who knows what song the title of this post came from. Um Jeff, those cool points are pretty much yours for the taking :)

He Walks

Sorry the video is so dark, I'm technologically challenged.

Things to notice:
1. His amazing walking skills.
2. The jabber, he talks all the time but mostly jibberish :)
3. The celebratory headbanging... I think I'm raising a rockstar!
4. The cutest profile ever at 22 seconds in!
5. He starts to fall at the end, his flailing arms are so funny to me :)

"Things are shaping up to be pretty odd..."

Everyone knows I love Panic so I thought I'd share my favorite song off their new ablum Pretty.Odd. Follow the link to bask in their acoustic goodness :) http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=90520630

"Things have changed for me, and that's okay.
I feel the same, I'm on my way, and I say.

I want to go where everyone goes,
I want to know what everyone knows
I want to go where everyone feels the same

I never said I'd leave the city,
I never said I'd leave this town.
A falling out we won't tiptoe about. "

Father & Sons

Last weekend Jeff took Davis to the Father & Sons overnighter. Davis was so excited he talked about camping all week. I kept telling him how many more days and he kept telling me "It's taking a long time!". Last year was the first year they went and Leah and I started a tradition too: Girl's night out to Coldstone Creamery after they leave :) This year, after we got our ice cream, we came home and colored together. Grayson had already gone to bed and Leah and I made a butterfly and a caterpillar. Leah said "This is the best day ever" which made me happy :) Jeff and Davis came home around 10 or 11 in the morning so us girls didn't have too much time to ourselves on Saturday.
Here's a summary of Jeff's account of the trip:
By the time they drove out to the dry lake beds it was really dark and you could see the moon and stars really well which Davis loved. They rode a 4-wheeler over to a neighboring camp where Jeff's brother and his kid were camping with their ward. At first Davis was scared to ride it but after he got on and they started driving fast he was happy and cheering :) They came back to their camp and made their bed in the back of the truck. Davis isn't a very good sleeper so he kept Jeff up all night! In the morning they ate breakfast. When it was about time to leave Jeff was pouring the water from the ice chests and Davis had a great time stepping in the mud puddle and was fascinated that the clay really stuck to his shoes!!
If you enlarge the picture you'll be amazed how much mud is stuck to his shoes!!
When they got home Davis was excited to tell me the ground had "cacks" and he used his finger to make them go away. Then for the next few days he kept saying to me "Do you know where camping is? Daddy knows. It's just for boys."

He Speaks

Here's a video of Gray saying Leah so cute!

Don't pay attention to the fact that Leah's without a shirt, she's my crazy naked girl!

And my mom sent me this picture from Summer '82 (making me about a year old). Don't you think Grayson looks just like me!?!
Gotta love the clothes. I think they're back in style now :) Yeah, I'm that old, ha ha.

EDIT: My mom said this picture was more likely taken when I was 8 or 9 months. She thinks this because I was walking by the time I was a year old. He still looks like me :)

"Somehow, I believed that my parents would then shower me with the attention I felt was given automatically to my brother and sister." ~ Three Weeks with My Brother by Nicholas Sparks and Micah Sparks

This is pretty good book. Definitely the best book that I've read in a long line of duds. You'd be amazed what the Sparks brothers have been through. I just finished it this morning and I'm still in shock.

I tag: Jana, Jenny, Keri, Lisa & Katie.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day this year was great. I was able to go to the temple on Saturday morning and it was a wonderfully uplifting experience. Our stake had organized a temple day where we met at a chapel near the temple so the mission president's wife could speak to us and then we walked over to the temple for a session. I felt the spirit very strong and the thing that touched me the most was something I'd heard a million times before. It's amazing how that happens.
On Sunday Grayson was having a rough day so I brought him home early from church and put him down for his nap. He'd been having a rough couple of days because I weaned him on his birthday and all his frustrations seemed to come out when we were at church since he had to sit on my lap the whole time and there was nothing to really distract him. Well, I guess I didn't really mind coming home since it meant that I got to sneak in a little nap and some light reading :) What warmed my heart the most though was the awesome song that Jeff recorded for me. He has such talent!! I would post it on here but I don't know how. So if anyone knows how to do that let me know so I can share my most favorite song :)

Books

I've been reading a lot of books lately but unfortunately I haven't really liked a single one. I have a whole list of books that I would NOT recommend. I guess I'll just have to wait until Breaking Dawn comes out to get my "awesomely good book fix" :)

One year ago today...

was the day Grayson was born :)
Happy Birthday Gray!

It's been a good year. Grayson was instantly loved by both his brother and his sister. As a baby he was so calm and let them play with him a lot. He grew up so fast!! He had 8 teeth at 8 months! He's so smart too :) By his first birthday he could say Hi, Mom, Dada, & Leah! He could give kisses, click his tongue, and wave goodbye. He also developed a love for the phone. If it's laying around he'll pick it up, hold it to his head (or neck :) and jabber. And don't try to take it away, he has an iron clad grip and a ear piercing shriek. I think Leah taught him that :)

My Boys

No, not Davis and Grayson...the Moffat boys. We just finished babysitting/housesitting the Moffat boys and it was a fun-filled four days. I miss them already! Jacob and Andrew are by far my favorite 11 & 1o year olds and Tyler told me my hair looked pretty so he gets bonus points for that :)
Here are some reasons why I consider our time there a success:
- We laughed a lot and according to Andrew I will probably die because I laugh too much :)
- Jacob and Leah shared in their common love of drawing/coloring.
- We set off dry-ice bombs on the basketball court and nobody was hurt or arrested.
- Everybody loved my cooking (well, they loved it when I brought home Cafe Rio :).
- After endless bean bag fights, rounds of hide-and-go-seek and jumping on the trampoline everyone had no trouble going to bed each night.
- We were only 15 minutes late to church.
- I didn't kill Tyler for making us 15 minutes late to church.

My favorite memory:
Autumn, Leah, Andrew and Jacob are outside jumping on the trampoline. Andrew climbs on the wall the easy way and jumps onto the trampoline.
Andrew: "Autumn, I bet you can't do that."
Autumn climbs on the wall the hard way to prove how tough she is and sits down on the ledge.
Autumn: "I don't want to jump on the trampoline from here I just wanted to climb up."
Andrew: "What are ya chicken?"
Autumn: "Andrew, I'm an adult I don't give in to peer pressure."
Andrew bocks like a chicken.
Leah: "My mom can't jump on the trampoline, she's too big. If she jumps on it it will break!"
Everyone laughs out loud.
And Scene.

See why I love them so much!? Until next time guys :)

Creativity Abounds

Leah LOVES to color, draw and paint. She spends time everyday drawing shapes, coloring them and then cutting them out. She's pretty talented if you ask me, but don't ask me I'm biased :) I'm especially proud of her latest drawing:
She explained it as this: "It's Davis surfing and a shark is going to bite him. A shark with a teeny tiny baby shark in it's tummy". Good job Leah, and don't forget the happy but slightly evil looking sun in the sky :)
